Fun with Catie Jean

After Catie was born I started looking for something to do with the baby instead of sitting around the house with her all the time. I finally stumbled upon a website for Romp and Roll. Romp and Roll is a place located in Willow Grove that has gym, music, and art classes for children from 3 months to 6 years old. I have had such a great experience with Romp and Roll. Catie gets so excited when she knows we are going to gym class.

At the end of November I had the opportunity to go to a workshop with Catie at Romp and Roll. The workshop was basically about the importance of play. I found it very interesting. It actually followed my philosophy as a teacher. I have felt that there is too much structured lessons for children in Kindergarten and even Preschool and not enough play. This workshop confirmed that for me. We need to let kids be kids and stop teaching them how to take a test!

After the workshop the teachers at Romp and Roll held a mixed gym class. Catie, being one of the youngest there, couldn't really run around as much as the other kids but she had fun all the same! This was a Parent Inclusive class. I think some of the parents there need to be taught about what "Parent Inclusive" means. I was appalled at how little they interacted with their kids and what they allowed their kids to get away with. This has absolutely nothing to do with Romp and Roll and the staff. Those teachers are amazing!! Parents just need to learn how to parent and be responsible for their kids. Super annoying!

Anyway, the first class I signed Catie up for was a babies class. It was for children 3-12 months. It was neat to see all the babies grow during that 12 week period! Catie's favorite part of the class was seeing Rompy, the mascot, and the bubbles at the end. Catie is now in Tumble Tunes which is more of a music class but still allows her a lot of time to play in the gym.

I am so happy with Romp and Roll! I can't wait to try the other classes with Catie as she gets older!
