Jim had gotten out of his car to mail a package and his keys fell into the sewer. He drove down to his parents' house to get his dad. The two of them came down to move the sewer grate to put a magnet down to pull the keys out. When they were moving the grate his dad dropped it early and it crushed Jim's finger. He had to get five stitches and has a splint on it just to keep it from breaking. The doctor explained that the finger wasn't broken but is "spidered" like when a piece of glass breaks.
Jim's poor finger.
We didn't end up coming home until about 12:30 and didn't get in bed until 1:00 so when my alarm went off this morning I called George and told him I wasn't coming in. We went back to sleep until 10:00. I woke up, walked to the corner pharmacy, got Jim's medicine, came home, and made him breakfast. I said it was nice out and since we were both home we should do something so I bought a membership to the zoo and we went to the zoo. We bought the membership because it was only a few dollars more than what we would have paid anyway!
Here are some pictures I took of our day. I didn't get any pictures of us because my phone ended up dying! :( That's ok though... we are members now so we will go back over the summer.
I can't remember what these things were but I thought they were cute sleeping together. They were in the Rare Animal House!
Some of the Galapagos Turtles eating.
The hippos decided to come out of their pool to play with their ball. I never saw the hippos do anything but float in the middle of the water!
I can't remember what these thing were either but they were pretty impressive looking. I had never seen these before. The brown one's name was Olivia, or so said the zoo keeper behind us.
One of the Gorillas. Jim laughed at this one because he was sitting on his steps looking like a king. I guess he is the "in charge" one.
One of the Orangutans. After I took his picture he stuck his tongue out at me!
The Gorilla cage from the top floor.
The lion habitat. This was the first time I saw the new "Big Cats" exhibit.
A Puma. The Big Cats exhibit lets the cats come really close to you, behind plexiglass that is! It was really neat.
The tigers were fighting! It was pretty cool.
"So There!"
The Prarie Dogs eating!
The Peahen eating the Prarie Dogs' food! How Rude!!
The Peacock showing off.
